LTS Dinghy Usage

LTS has made 2 - 420's and a Pico available for senior members and Adult LT's dinghy sailors, thanks to generous and continued support from our Membership.  The boats are available for sailing from spring to fall. They are available for Wednesday night racing or simply enjoying the conditions in Toronto Harbour any day of the week.

Use Signup for your desired time slot, and don't forget to sign the waiver. You'll find the link on our Sailing page under LTS Dinghy Usage.

Learn to Sail at QCYC!  Now in our 68th Year of highly regarded Sailing Instruction!

Queen City Yacht Club takes pride in its learn to sail programs. We offer sailing lessons for youth (ages 8-17) and adults (18+). We are located on the beautiful Toronto Islands with a perfect view of the city, and have a wonderful new Learn to Sail facility that debuted in 2014. Our Sail Canada certified coaches are experienced, and well qualified to deliver the SailCanada curriculum to all ages and skill levels!

Our students sail Picos (simple, double handed learning boats), Optimists (single-handed sailing dinghy intended for use by children up to the age of 15), 420s (larger, faster double handed boats) and Sharks (24 foot keelboats). Queen City’s well-respected Learn to Sail program has produced hundreds of life-long sailors, including several who went on to become members of the Canadian National Sailing Team.

Why Sailing?

Sailing is a fun outdoor activity that can become a passion for the rest of your or your child's life! In fact, many of our current members started their life-long passion for sailing in our Youth Learn to Sail program. This doesn't mean you have to be young to get into it, though! Our adult programs even come with an LTS membership which will allow you access to the club for the balance of the season and some extra tender tickets to get you out to the island!

Competition in sailing is very popular in Canada - we offer programs that can lead to provincial and even national racing! Although it can be an Olympic endeavor, it can also simply become a relaxing pastime. Sailing is friendly to the environment while offering great afternoons and evenings on the water!
