New For 2010

QCYC home page

New for 2010:

In 2010, Entertainment will strive to provide events throughout the year spaced so that Members can enjoy frequent social “get-togethers”.  Visit our Year-at-a-Glance page for event dates and details.

There are some new events this year:

1.            After the Women’s Skippers Race we will be hosting this year’s Headliner: “Chuck Jackson and the All Stars”. There will be a nominal cover charge for this event.

2.            We are having a "Member Appreciation Party" just to say "Thank You" to all the Queen City Members. There will be a live band and no cover charge. This is a free event with a live band. Watch out for, and please support the fundraising for this event. We hope to make this party an annual tradition, so come out and show us that being a QCYC Member is worth celebrating!

3.             We will be holding a Member sponsored event this year called “Cheeseburger in Paradise”. There will be afternoon and evening bands, the best cheeseburgers ever, and margaritas! We’re looking for donations, so if you’re interested in being one of our sponsors, please contact Geoff at Entertainment@qcyc.ca or phone 905-822-3803. Watch for more details on this!

4.            We have scheduled an event for every Friday evening in the sailing season, where there is no event scheduled for the following Saturday evening and where there is no Club Sail-out. How about that? Something social for every weekend! The Friday evenings are a time for after dinner, casual fun with your QC friends; they range from darts and cards, thro’ movies to Members live music.

We are bringing excellent entertainers:

Queen City is well known for its entertainment and, as such, we’ll be bringing in top-notch musicians, many of whom are award winners, who play a wide range of genres to accommodate our members’ wide range in tastes! We hope you enjoy them!

We are keeping the lid on ticket prices and overall costs:

We understand that ticket prices are important and we intend to keep our ticket prices about the same as last year, or in some cases lower. Naturally, the imposition of HST on our tickets will have an impact on event prices. However, we will do out best to hold the prices whenever we can. Always with an eye on spending wisely, we will be striving to contain the overall cost of club entertainment to the 2009 level.

A new PA System to enjoy:

This year, your club is adding a PA system in the Great Hall. This will helps us control the costs of professional entertainers.

We hope to see more of our local community:

We are encouraging our Island neighbours to attend and enjoy the fun. We will be promoting events to the community.

Please support us in our social activities and make 2010 an enjoyable year for all.
